Gannett-Tripp 图书馆 Awarded Digitization Grant

The South Central Regional 图书馆 Council (SCRLC) awarded the 埃尔迈拉大学 Gannett-Tripp 图书馆 a $4,200 grant for the digitization of 117 issues of the College's Iris yearbooks dating from 1896 to 2016, and 175 issues of the Alumni Bulletin (later renamed 校园 Magazine) from 1974 until 2021.

“The library staff is pleased to be able to preserve and make available the personal and institutional history contained in these treasured documents, some of which are brittle and deteriorating,” said Magaret Kappanadze, Director of the 图书馆. “Alumni, their family members, and other researchers frequently request information from the yearbooks and magazines to refresh their memories, complete family histories, and investigate College history. Once the project is completed, staff and online users can access information seamlessly and efficiently.”

克莱尔·洛弗尔, Digital 服务 Librarian at SCRLC, will be in charge of scanning the material and loading it to the New York Heritage Digital Collections site where it will be accessible and searchable to all users.

图书馆 staff members will post links to the site on its Special Collections/埃尔迈拉大学 Archives 网页. Work on the project will begin this summer and will be completed by June 2025.
